Campsite committee chairperson
Join our 600+ volunteers and supporters who are already making a massive difference to girls and young women across Cornwall! If you love the ethos of Girlguiding but thought all our roles were running weekly meetings with our young members…think again!
Our beautiful river-side county campsite, located near Truro, provides a safe outdoor space for our members, and other youth organisations, to camp. The site is a gently sloping field, with some under-cover space, a campfire area and indoor toilet facilities.
We are looking for a proactive, forward-thinking individual who can lead the committee to maximise the potential of the site, developing the facilities on offer whilst keeping the more traditional elements alive.
You will:
- Coordinate and chair committee meetings, to ensure that the site is effectively managed;
- Ensure the statutory/legal requirements for the site, such as health and safety, are met;
- Lead the development of the publicity of the site, maximising bookings from Girlguiding, The Scout Association, Duke of Edinburgh Award groups etc;
- Ensure the equipment provided on the site is fit for purpose, maintained, and renewed as appropriate;
- Liaise with the local residents, ensuring good relationships are built and maintained;
- Maintain and establish connections with local tradespeople to support the ongoing maintenance of the site.
You don’t need experience in Girlguiding, but do need to be supportive of the organisation’s vision and values. Knowledge of managing a small, independent, campsite would be of benefit, but not essential.
Volunteers are required to have an account on the website to complete this form.
