Citadel Volunteer
We are currently recruiting volunteers in the Truro, Camborne, Pool and Redruth areas. Our volunteers come from across the community, with different backgrounds, faiths and beliefs. They often have experience of homelessness or accessing support services. We are keen for volunteers to bring their own ideas and experience to shape how we offer support and welcome applications from anyone over the age of 18.
Volunteers play a fundamental part in people’s journey from homelessness to belonging. Could you volunteer with people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness to make your community stronger?
We are a new community based, volunteer-led support service designed to help end homelessness and make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most.

Our volunteers help individuals emotionally and practically as they settle into a new home.
Activities volunteers support with are specific to the person but could include:
- Helping on ‘move in day’
- Setting up bills
- Following a budget
- Decorating, finding furniture and making a space feel like home
- Catching up for a coffee and chat to offer emotional support
- Fundraising for essential items
Volunteers are offered varied, interactive training, ongoing one-to-one check ins with a local co-ordinator and a chance to make a real difference in the community. You’ll meet likeminded, proactive people at our regular volunteer events. Expenses are covered. We just ask for one hour per week.
You can find our volunteer application form by clicking here.
If you have any enquiries, or would like to arrange a chat, please contact your local Citadel Co-ordinators, Kirsty & Sarah, at CitadelCornwall@housingjustice.org.uk.
