Falmouth & Penryn Welcome Refugee Families - Volunteers and Board Members
Do you want to help the refugee population in Falmouth and Penryn?
VOLUNTEERS
We are urgently looking for new volunteers. As a charity that relies almost exclusively on volunteer help, we are always seeking new energy and enthusiasm to keep our organisation healthy, happy and sustainable.
We offer a wide range of opportunities including:
Schools helping with school issues as they arise as well as Homework Club. If you have a child at school in Falmouth or Penryn then you already have valuable experience. Equally, just an interest/affinity with young people and education is a great starting point.
Childrens activities organising as and when they come up, including supporting family involvement to make these opportunities more independently accessible.
ESOL teaching families English. Qualified ESOL teachers are of course invaluable but unqualified volunteers working alongside our existing team also play a really key role. Perhaps you are thinking of taking an ESOL course in the future and want some experience?
Health accompanying to Health appointments and helping families to become more confident in communicating liaison with health professionals independently.
Work & benefits helping families navigate the benefits system and look for job opportunities locally.
Events help to running stalls at fundraising events. Become part of a creative team planning all sorts of different events to raise money and awareness locally.
Finance support for our Treasurer
Support using IT you don’t have to be an IT whizz, just used to using computers and able to show others how to use email, do websearches etc.
All volunteers will be given full training and be assigned mentors as well being offered free courses such as Bystander Training. We are a very friendly and diverse team with social opportunities throughout the year.
BOARD MEMBERS
We are also on lookout for new Board Members, especially a Schools Lead. However we are keen to hear from any background and experience with an interest in refugee issues. Meetings are held six times a year in Penryn.
We always welcome new energy and ideas and are keen to make our organisation as diverse as possible. If you are interested but want to just find out a bit more first, please don't hesitate to get in touch to have a chat.
Volunteers are required to have an account on the website to complete this form.
If you've not created a volunteer account, please create one here.
