Role description

Help grow and care for our shared outdoor space

This role focuses on looking after and developing our garden spaces, helping grow produce for the café and keeping the area well maintained. It suits people who enjoy being outdoors, working with their hands, and seeing the results of what they’ve done over time.

You’ll be part of a small group who regularly spend time in the garden together, sharing knowledge, getting stuck into practical tasks, and keeping things moving with the seasons.

On a typical session you might:

  • plant, water and care for vegetables and plants
  • weed and maintain growing areas
  • support seasonal tasks like planting, harvesting or clearing
  • help keep tools and spaces organised
  • take on small maintenance tasks where needed

Tasks will vary depending on the time of year, and there’s always something to get stuck into.

You don’t need to be an expert, but it helps if you enjoy practical work and being outdoors. The garden is overseen by the Venue Lead, but sessions aren’t led — you’ll be working alongside others, sharing tasks and getting on with what needs doing.

Sessions usually happen on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings for around 2 hours. You’re welcome to drop in and out depending on your availability — you don’t need to attend every week.

It’s a flexible way to get involved, spend time outside, and be part of growing something that feeds directly into the café and wider space.

Organisation Information

intoBodmin is a Community Interest Company that owns and manages The Old Library, a beautifully refurbished community building in the heart of Bodmin.

We host creative, cultural and wellbeing-focused activities, programmes and events, both at The Old Library and out in the wider community. Every day is different: upstairs you’ll find offices and co-working spaces, downstairs there’s a café, and in the evenings the building often transforms into a stage and events space.

Our daily programme includes everything from therapy groups, choirs and chair yoga to creative companion groups and other uplifting community activities.
