Golowan Festival and Mazey Day

Golowan is getting closer and closer.  This year the festival runs from Friday 17th June to 26th June 2022.  The theme is “Back to the Future”.  Without the involvement of our community the Golowan Festival would never happen. Our volunteers’ enthusiasm and commitment contribute massively to our beloved Penzance.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help in the following areas:

Helping to steward the parades on Mazey Day. (25 June)
Collecting donations at the Mock Mayor election (23 June), the torchlit procession, the fireworks (24 June) and throughout the day on Mazey Day.
Collecting Bucket signing in and out
Bucket shaking (Mazey Day/Quay Fair Day/Fireworks)
Managing the Golowan Volunteers’ Rest & Refreshment Room (at Pop-up Shop or Golowan Festival Office, Barbican)
Golowan Stall – Quay Fair Day (26 June)
Quay Fair Collecting
Quay Fair Day – Meeting and Greeting
Helping to put greenery on railings in Market Jew Street – Mazey Day
Putting bunting round railings – St Johns Hall – Mazey Day
Mazey Day – giving out leaflets, encouraging people dispersing from parades
Giving out water to those in parades on Mazey Day
Leafleting residents about road closures before the event
Litter pickers – Mazey Day Festival/Morrab Gardens
Selling merchandise in the Golowan Pop-up Shop
Post-event clear up (getting in buckets etc)
Fireworks stewarding

It would be great if you could give two to three hours of your time to one of these roles, more if you feel you would like to.

We will of course be supplying volunteer t-shirts.
