Grass cutting, mowing, strimming for outdoor wellbeing spaces
At Hugs welcome children with SEND to our wellbeing spaces. Children visit us every day in groups and individually to receive support for a wide range of reasons, and our garden, orchard, growing spaces and trim trail lawns are the main areas which they use when they are not working directly with equines.
Trying to keep these spaces at their best in summer is a real challenge.
We need extra help this year with the following:
• Mowing grass in the sensory garden, around the trim trail area and in the orchard.
• Strimming around the growing spaces, the well-being barn, the fruit cage and growing spaces to manage weeds etc around the edges and manage grass on uneven ground areas.
We use petrol brush cutters, strimmers and lawn mowers so volunteers need to be competent and ideally qualified in the safe use and operation of this equipment.
If you think you have the time and skills to help, please get in touch.
Hugs is a registered charity local to Bodmin but serving the whole of Cornwall and a little beyond.
We rescue, rehabilitate and aim to rehome horses and ponies, and for humans we are a wellbeing centre for children and young adults with mental health concerns providing a variety of services in the great outdoors.
We have a very small staff team and a growing volunteer team who make everything we do possible.
Our volunteer coordinator can tell you more and can invite you to a meet and greet on site, to help you decide if applying to volunteer with us is right for you.
