Join our growing team of Volunteer Mentors
Volunteers and Peer Mentors are an integral part of the work we do at Konnect Communities which centres around the invaluable support needed by those who have experience of the Criminal Justice System. Come join us and become a lifeline in helping our clients to continue their journey towards fulfilling their potential.
If you have lived experience of the Criminal Justice System, we have a bespoke Peer Mentor Training and Support Programme just for you so get in touch and find out all about it. You may be an ex-offender, a victim of crime, been given a caution or perhaps supporting a family member with these experiences.
Volunteering and peer mentoring provides opportunities to learn further transferrable skills such as interpersonal and communication skills, understanding boundaries and confidentiality and gaining role-specific skills for the workplace.
Our ultimate aim is to create a bank of trained and skilled volunteers and peer mentors who can be deployed to support and thrive within the Konnect system and in the local community.
Volunteers undergo an induction process to enable them to establish and promote a safe professional working relationship with clients. We provide formal training for our volunteers to empower and inform them. We can also provide:
- Level 2 mentoring
As a volunteer there are various different opportunities available to you. We ensure that our volunteers skills, experience and interests are considered with regard to the roles they undertake. The available roles are:
- Befriending people who are socially isolated
- Providing a listening ear or practical support for those in need
- Supporting our in-house training programmes and workshops
- Supporting and promoting Konnect at events and outreach days
- Peer Mentors can also take part in our User Voice Programme
- Providing support to our Service User / Peer Support Group which will be rolled out soon
The level 2 peer mentoring programme includes ongoing professional development and supervision to further strengthen our peer mentors’ skills and resilience for future employment opportunities.
We provide a Level 2 Mentoring Qualification, which depending on an individual’s circumstances can be fully or part funded by Konnect. If you already have a mentoring qualification or equivalent this can be utilised instead.
If you are interested in a volunteering role with Konnect you can email nicola@konnect-communities.co.uk or speak to Nikki our Volunteer Coordinator on 07840372980 to arrange an initial, no commitment, chat.
