Volunteer with us

This project can only run due to our volunteers who help pick up the food every night and help with collections, deliveries, cleaning, cooking etc. We need more volunteers to help with this as well as assistance with admin, finance, grant applications, social media etc. We really appreciate any help you can offer so please get in touch or complete our online application form if you are interested in volunteering with us. There is no commitment of hours, even if you can only do one hour a month it is much appreciated.

For every hour your volunteer you can also earn Time credits which can get you free entry and tickets to the Minack Theatre, Newquay Zoo, Flambards, Tremenhere Sculpture gardens and many more.

There are many ways that you can help. Have a look at the things we need help with and sign up as a volunteer.

• Every night of the week, food is collected from the 3 Co-ops in St Ives after 9.30pm. This food is taken to the Rugby club where it is stored in the fridge or freezer or boxes for collection or delivery.  You’d need a car to help with this.
• We offer the public collections of free food 6 times a week, at the Rugby club, Mike Peters Estate, St Johns Hall and at the Palemon Best car park.
• Wednesday 10.30am – 12.30 at our Kevranna Social Club at the St John in-the-Fields hall. Coffee morning, combined with socialising, cooking and craft making.  Volunteers get together at 10.00am for preparations before we open for the public.
• Wed morning, assisting the chef with cooking up meals at St Johns hall.
• Assistance with delivering meals to people around the town on Wednesday.
• Driving to collect food from various places – ASDA, Sainsbury’s Tesco, pasty shops in St Ives, Rugby club in Hayle.
• Gleaning. Occasionally a farmer lets us go pick veg or fruit from their farms when they have surplus.
• Events. We put on foody events at various places. Need help preparing, cooking and providing food, helping with tea / coffee / bar, helping set up.
• Friday evening Meal share – preparing and serving food
• Admin / advertising / finance / volunteer recruitmen / social media help would all be well appreciated.
