Maintenance Volunteer

Help keep the building in good shape

This role is about looking after The Old Library and keeping it safe, functional and well cared for. It suits people who enjoy practical tasks, like solving problems, and take satisfaction in getting things sorted.

You might be helping with small fixes, improving spaces, or tackling jobs that make a real difference to how the building feels and works.

On a typical session you might:

• carry out small repairs and general fixes
• support painting and improvement jobs
• help keep spaces safe, tidy and in good working order
• spot and flag anything that needs attention
• use your skills to respond to practical issues as they arise 

Tasks will vary depending on what’s needed, and there’s always something to get stuck into.

You don’t need to do everything, but it helps if you have some practical skills or experience you can bring. You might have a specific skill to share, or just be confident taking on hands-on tasks. You’ll be shown what’s needed, then trusted to work through jobs independently, liaising with the Facilities Coordinator where needed.

This role can be flexible. You might prefer a regular slot, or to get involved on a more ad hoc basis depending on your availability.

It’s a practical way to contribute, with visible results. You’ll be part of keeping a shared community space running and well looked after.
