Motor Neurone Disease Association - Volunteer Fundraiser

Local Area
South East Cornwall (Saltash, Launceston, Liskeard & Looe & in between)
Role description

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles refuse to work. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breath. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis, and it has no cure.

The MND Association was founded in 1979. Our mission is to improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers. We also fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND.

Could you be one of our Volunteer Fundraisers? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to help us raise money and awareness within their local communities. (This is a voluntary role)

As a Volunteer Fundraiser, you will:

• organise a variety of fundraising events on behalf of the Group
• manage street collections in accordance with Local Authority requirements
• responsibility for collection tins and ensuring they are regularly collected and exchanged
• encourage local organisations and companies to fundraise on behalf of the Association
• liaise with our national office in support of fundraising events co-ordinated nationally.

You don’t need personal experience of MND but this role will suit someone with good communication skills talking to members of the public and the desire to help.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and get involved with your local community. You will gain experience of fundraising along with the opportunity to increase your knowledge of MND to raise awareness confidently.

This role is flexible and you can give as time much as you want and are able to give. Full training and induction will be provided and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
