Community Events Support Volunteer

Purpose:       

At ShelterBox, we want everyone to know about the millions of people made homeless by earthquakes, floods, cyclones, and conflict, and about the practical help ShelterBox delivers around the world.  We have over 100 volunteers across the UK who are called ShelterBox Ambassadors.  These volunteers deliver talks about our disaster relief work and help us raise funds.

The Community Events Support Volunteer would play a key role in supporting the Community Fundraising Assistant to fulfil requests from a wide variety of organisations for ShelterBox Ambassadors to attend talks and community events. This role would also support the Community Fundraising Assistant to ensure that ShelterBox Ambassadors and fundraisers have the resources they need. This flexible voluntary role is one day per week and will always be closely supported by a member of the community fundraising team in the office.

         

Tasks:

  • Respond to email enquiries regarding talk and event requests from members of the public
  • Regularly check our Volunteer Portal for upcoming talks and events that are unfulfilled
  • Match upcoming talks and event requests with appropriate volunteers, contacting them via phone and email to arrange
  • Assist the team with regular stock takes of fundraising resources
  • Support with packaging and posting of fundraising resources
  • Coordinate fulfilment of demo box requests or other resources
  • Record information and communications on our CRM (Customer Relations Management) system
  • Promote the use of the Volunteer Portal to our volunteers

Skills & Qualities:

  • Moderate IT skills
  • Good telephone manner
  • Confident in speaking to people
  • Organised & methodical

Time Commitment:            One day a week on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Location:                              This role is based in the Truro office.
