St Petrocs - Volunteer Polish Language Translator
Volunteer Polish Language Translator
As the Volunteer Polish Language Translator, you will play an important role supporting the day to day activities at St Petrocs the Truro Resource Centre or Breadline in Penzance.
Clients can access a range of facilities at the centres including showers, food, toilets, clothing, bedding, laundry and storage. They also have support available to them to assist them with daily life such as benefits claims, as well as access to activities that actively promote health and wellbeing. Under the supervision of the Resettlement Team, you will provide support with interpreting our Polish clients’ language so they can be better supported through our services.
We would need volunteers on an very adhoc basis, as and when there is a service need and when you are available to support and you'll also need to be resident in the UK.
What you'll be doing.
You will work closely with the Resettlement Team at either the Truro Resource Centre or Breadline in Penzance (depending on your preferred location) providing support which may include:
- Meeting our clients face to face (if residing in Cornwall), or calling them on the telephone to support them by asking questions in their Polish language, which may relate to accessing our services and / or areas such as benefit claim help.
- Attend meetings to translate discussions in person or on Microsoft Teams.
- Emailing Service Manager with the responses to pre-set questions / updates and enquiries from clients.
*This is a remote role, but may require you to attend the Truro Resource Centre or Breadline, Penzance to meet with our clients and staff if you reside in Cornwall.
Volunteers are required to have an account on the website to complete this form.
