Role description

As the Volunteer Mobile Hairdresser at either the Truro or Breadline Resource Centre you will play an important role in providing a much needed service by our clients visiting the centres.
 

Clients can already access a range of facilities at the centres including showers, food, toilets, clothing, bedding, laundry and storage as well as activities that actively promote health and wellbeing. 

Being able to access the services of a hairdresser will further enhance the support we can provide to our clients at the centres. 

Under the supervision of the Resettlement Teams, you will need to be able to volunteer for 1 day per month at one of the centres.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the Resettlement Team providing Mobile Hairdressing Support which may include:

  1.  Setting up and clearing / cleaning room for hairdressing activities.
  2.  Cutting, trimming and styling clients hair.
  3.  Making hot/cold beverages for clients.

In order to volunteer with us, you will be expected to complete an application form and attend an informal chat/taster session and if successful complete on-line training appropriate to the role and agree to a basic DBS check where necessary.

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to our service and client group.
  • Reliability and agreement on how much time you can commit to the role.
  • Responsibility for own and others health and safety whilst undertaking the tasks.
  • Can maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Provide a friendly welcome to our clients and any visitors to the centre.
  • Hold the relevant hairdressing qualifications and permissions to undertake hairdressing activities.
  • Provide your own hairdressing equipment for the hairdressing service.  
  • Can make own arrangements for travel to the Breadline or Truro Resource Centres (parking not available at the centres)
