Residential Break Volunteer
Go Beyond's incredible volunteers are at the heart of our work; they are the people who make everything possible. We are always looking to welcome new people to our volunteer teams, so come along to find out more. Learn new skills, meet new people and make a difference to young people attending our breaks.
We require volunteers at our location in Par, Cornwall who can spend a week (Mon-Fri) with young people attending our breaks. The children attending are those who are in need of time away from their home life, and so we need volunteers who can be encouraging, supportive and be excellent role models.
From splashing in the river in their wellies to braving the dizzying heights of a rock-climbing wall, each break is packed with activities intended to encourage self-belief and inspire adventure.
Our breaks need volunteers to help us run fun, creative and physical activities for the children and young people. As a Break Volunteer you will stay onsite in our volunteer bedrooms (depending on the group and size, you may have to share a room with another volunteer of the same gender). All your meals and activities will be provided for the duration of the week.
If you are a first-time volunteer, please register your interest and submit an application via our secure online platform: Campsite You can book via the Forms tab, “2026 Available Break Dates.” Simply scroll to select your preferred date(s) at Derbyshire (Daleside centre), Cornwall (Coastal centre), or our new pop-up break centre at Cardfields in Essex.
We look for the following qualities in all those who join us as a Break Volunteer:
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to help
- Good communication skills and a positive, friendly attitude
- Non-judgemental and approachable
- Experience of working with young people
- Willingness to work flexibly, adapting tasks to suit the needs of the group
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
We are proud to be an Approved Activity Provider for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, welcoming young adults over 18 who wish to complete the residential section of their Award.
This role is incredibly rewarding for you as a volunteer, and you really do make a difference for the children attending. If you would like to apply, please get in touch!
At Go Beyond, we are a children's charity providing residential breaks to young people ages 8 to 13 who are facing serious problems in their lives. We need volunteers to help us run fun, creative and physical activities to help them escape their worries and pressures through breaks in the countryside. Break volunteers will join us for a week-long break with all meals, accommodation, and activities included from Monday to Friday at our centres in Ashbourne, Derbyshire or Par, Cornwall. Prospective volunteers can choose any month of the year to volunteer with us and make a choice of their preferred centre.
Our 2026 break dates at Go Beyond are now live and available to book! We are currently taking bookings for spaces from January through to December 2026.
Our partnership with Cardfields marks the next step in Go Beyond’s mission to reach more children across the UK. Just an hour from London, this beautiful outdoor centre will bring life-changing breaks to children who need them most — offering even more opportunities for volunteers to make a difference.
