Volunteers Needed at Mid-Cornwall Climate and Eco Hub!

Local Area
Carrick (Truro, Falmouth & Perranporth & in between)
Minimum Age
16+
Role description

We are looking for people to support this thriving community-based environmental group in Truro.

We need volunteers to join our team. We are looking for people of all ages and backgrounds to join us and get involved in supporting the running of our Climate Emergency Centre (CEC). Mid-Cornwall Climate and Eco Hub is focused in sharing information and engaging the public in a growing awareness of the impacts of the changing climate, nature loss, water pollution and the need for food security etc.

We bring people together to take positive action upon these issues as individuals, communities, local government and businesses in creating sustainable change. We work closely with a diverse network of existing Environmental and Nature organisations across Cornwall. Our key objectives are met through: engaging the Community in social and creative events, sharing information, education and action.

You can choose how much you feel able to offer. We'd like to know more about you, your interests, skills and abilities and what you can bring to The Hub. We would love to include you in discussions, working with us to plan and deliver events and projects both at The Hub and in in the Community. As you gain knowledge and confidence you will have opportunities to become more involved with the running of The Hub, setting up and co-ordinating projects and events and to represent The Hub at meetings and as an outreach facilitator.

We aim to engage directly with younger people and children through fun events and would welcome your ideas and skills.

You will not be alone in The Hub as we always ensure that there are a minimum of two people here

We are looking forward to meeting you and discovering how we can work together.

What you would be able to do?

If you feel able to help us with any of the following responsibilities, please get in touch. Some of these will need you here in person but other jobs may be carried out at home.

  • Engage with members of the public at The Hub and support them to find the information they are looking for
  • We would like to compile a directory of information, resources and connections with other environmental groups. We would appreciate your help with this
  • Help locate sources of information for members of the community you are engaged with and, in time, learn about those sources
  • Help community members join the dots between different sorts of action they can take, and the diverse range of community partners who are all working positively on these issues
  • We are particularly keen to have volunteer support with IT and/or Social Media skills
  • Experience with Web Design and Mail Chimp or similar
  • Rationalise our contact lists; with our input, of course
  • Work as part of a team; Mid-Cornwall Climate and Eco Hub is run on an entirely voluntary basis
  • Undertake any health and safety training that we provide
  • Meet other people who are keen to take positive local community-based action on the Climate and Nature crises.
  • Experience in any of the following would be much appreciated: Fundraising, Finance, Admin, Promotion and Marketing, Outreach, Business Skills

How we will support you:

We'll provide you with everything you need to ensure you understand the purpose of The Hub and CECs more generally, and how we see ourselves fitting in with the County Council's delivery of its Net Zero and Nature Recovery policies.

The Mid-Cornwall Climate and Eco Hub also has its own unique character, reflecting the community and environment that it serves. Volunteers are a key part of this.

Interested? Just drop us an email: info@mcceh.org and we'll get back to you!

We are very near the bus station and a 15-minute walk from Truro railway station. We serve a roughly 15-mile radius around the Hub with a wide-ranging geographical and social mix.
