Role description

Role Title: Fundraising and Events Volunteer
Location: Cornwall, UK
Hours: Flexible – depending on events and fundraising activities (typically evenings and weekends)
 

Role Overview:
As a Fundraising and Events Volunteer for Out of the Woods CIC, you will play a vital role in supporting our fundraising efforts and organising events that raise awareness and generate funds for our work with children and young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). You will assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting fundraising activities to ensure we can continue providing our therapy services to those who need them most. Your efforts will directly impact the lives of children in Cornwall, helping us meet the growing demand for our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Fundraising Campaigns: Help plan and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives to raise money for our subsidised therapy services. This may include online campaigns, community fundraisers, or donation drives.
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Support the organisation and execution of fundraising events, such as charity auctions, sponsored activities, community fairs, and other events designed to raise funds and awareness for Out of the Woods CIC.
  • Promote Events: Assist with marketing and promoting fundraising events through social media, flyers, email newsletters, and community outreach. Help spread the word and encourage participation.
  • Engage with Supporters: Interact with donors, participants, and volunteers at events to foster a sense of community and ensure positive experiences that encourage ongoing support.
  • Manage Event Logistics: Help with the practicalities of event coordination, such as venue setup, event registration, managing event materials, and ensuring events run smoothly.
  • Support with Donor Engagement: Assist in securing sponsorships and donations for events, as well as helping to cultivate relationships with donors and supporters.
  • Tracking and Reporting: Help track donations and funds raised at events, ensuring accurate records are maintained, and assist with reporting on fundraising outcomes.
  • Build Awareness: Use events as an opportunity to educate the public about ACEs, the impact of our services, and the importance of supporting children’s mental health.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Passion for the Cause: A strong commitment to supporting children who have experienced trauma and a belief in the importance of providing therapeutic services for healing.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with donors, event participants, and community members, both in person and through digital platforms.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under deadlines, ensuring events and fundraising activities are well organised and executed smoothly.
  • Creativity: Creative thinking for developing new and engaging fundraising ideas, events, and campaigns that will appeal to the local community.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with the fundraising team, volunteers, and other stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring all aspects of events, from logistics to donor communications, are executed with care and precision.
  • Proactive and Flexible: Willingness to take initiative and adapt to changes, whether helping with last-minute event changes or supporting different tasks as needed.

  • Induction and Training: You will receive an induction to Out of the Woods CIC, including, our therapeutic approach, and our services.
  • Ongoing Support: Regular check-ins to provide updates, guidance, and feedback.
  • Resources: Access to fundraising toolkits, promotional materials, and templates to help plan and execute successful campaigns and events.
  • Networking Opportunities: Opportunities to connect with other volunteers, supporters, and professionals in the charity sector.
