Grow Share Prepare
Grow Share Prepare seeks to engage up to 20 people from 16 years old and up who are not currently in work or education in growing fruit and vegetables, cooking fresh healthy produce to share with their community and engage in relevant work place and well-being training to increase opportunities in gaining employment or further volunteering.
The project which builds on volunteering opportunities through the Tamara Landscape Partnership Scheme aims to enthuse and build awareness of the variety of roles in food, farming and hospitality work through visits and experiences throughout the year; at the same time as increasing well-being and confidence in gaining or returning to employment through practical training.
The project aims to improve community connections by creating community lunches and also frozen ready meals for those experiencing food insecurity. At the end of the project participants will have gained both accredited and non-accredited training and a record of achievement from the programme. Tamar Grow Local will where relevant will also be able to provide references for participants on the programme.
Part of the training will also include social media and photography skills with participants recording their learning and progress; the activities of the farm days and provision of community meals. This will also demonstrate the value and variety of local food that is available in the Tamar Valley area.
It is hoped the programme will inform future growing and training programmes in our area and also increase the amount of people engaged in food, farming and hospitality with the confidence to start in new employment roles.
