Community Health Volunteer
Volunteer with our exciting new programme!
Volunteer Cornwall are excited to be launching a fantastic new programme in partnership with the NHS and our local hospitals to support individuals whilst they are being treated in the hospital and as they continue their recovery at home. Initially we'll be rolling out the programme in Redruth, Truro and Bude, with more areas being brought on board as we develop and expand to more hospitals.
The Community Health Volunteer role is broad and flexible role where volunteers will sit and have a cuppa and a chat with people staying on the wards during a designated 'volunteer time', providing some much needed social interaction. Then, volunteers will continue to visit people during their recovery at home for up to 6-8 weeks. During a person's recovery at home, an individual may need support with shopping, discovering local groups, collecting medication, but more often they might just need that friendly conversation over a cuppa to continue whilst they settle back in.

The Volunteering for Health volunteers will provide a bridge between hospital and the community, supporting patients, alongside hospital staff and community organisations, to improve their wellbeing and enhance the patient journey.
