Role description

Join Our Horticulture Volunteer Team at the Eden Project!

Grow your skills. Grow our gardens. Grow something extraordinary.

Are you happiest with soil on your hands and fresh air in your lungs? Do you love plants, people, and being part of something bigger? Join the Eden Project’s passionate Horticulture Team and help us nurture one of the most iconic gardens in the world.

As a volunteer, you’ll support our gardeners with potting, planting, weeding, ground clearing, and so much more. You’ll work alongside a large, friendly team of experienced professionals eager to share their knowledge and inspire your journey in horticulture.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a complete beginner, there’s a place for you here.

Where Can You Get Involved?

🌱 Landscape Team

Help shape and maintain our stunning landscapes—from building decking and fixing cobbles to supporting new garden developments. A hands-on, public-facing role for those who love practical outdoor work.

🌾 Estate Horticulture

Explore diverse ecosystems including wetlands, coppices, Chilean flora and meadows. Once trained, you may work with small machinery such as strimmers and mowers. Perfect for nature lovers who enjoy variety and discovery.

🌍 Biomes & Outdoor Gardens

Support the creation of world-class horticultural exhibits that showcase everything from global food systems to the science of weather. Tasks range from pruning and soil prep to harvesting and pest monitoring. Ideal for volunteers who enjoy engaging with visitors and sharing stories from the natural world.

🌿 Nursery Horticultural Crops

Get hands-on behind the scenes propagating plants for our retail spaces, restaurants, and plant collections—the beating heart of the Eden Project’s horticultural work. A great fit for those who prefer a quieter, non–public facing role.

📚 Back-of-House Support

Help document and preserve our collections by databasing plants and seeds, creating herbarium specimens, and maintaining our library and ethnobotany resources. A unique opportunity for detail-oriented plant lovers.
