Role description

About the Role
We are looking for warm, friendly volunteers to join our Wellbeing Café as Companions, supporting individuals who may be experiencing memory challenges. This is a relaxed and rewarding role focused on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where people feel comfortable, valued, and engaged.

As a Companion, you’ll spend time chatting with attendees, gently encouraging participation in simple, enjoyable activities such as arts and crafts, colouring, puzzles, and quizzes. Your presence can make a real difference in helping someone feel connected, confident, and uplifted.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Offering friendly conversation and a listening ear
  • Supporting individuals to take part in light activities at their own pace
  • Encouraging confidence and social interaction in a calm, respectful way
  • Helping create a positive and inclusive café atmosphere

Who Would Suit This Role?
This role is ideal for someone who is:

  • Kind, patient, and empathetic
  • A good listener who enjoys chatting with others
  • Calm and reassuring, especially when someone may feel unsure or forgetful
  • Creative or happy to get involved in simple activities
  • Reliable and able to commit to regular sessions
  • Interested in supporting wellbeing and community connection

You don’t need any previous experience—just a genuine desire to support others and make people feel welcome.

Why Volunteer With Us?

  • Make a meaningful difference in your community
  • Meet new people and build connections
  • Gain valuable experience in a supportive setting
  • Be part of a friendly and welcoming team

If you enjoy spending time with others and want to help create moments of joy and connection, we’d love to hear from you.
