Royal Voluntary Service - Home Library Service Organiser
This role will help you develop your observation and conversational skills, as you provide a book lending service to individuals to support their wellbeing. You'll also gain skills to lead others in delivering this service.
Description
Home Library Service Volunteers are needed to work alongside the local library to deliver and collect books, DVDs or CDs to people who may be housebound or have mobility issues. The service also provides regular, friendly social contact for the individual where you can check they are safe and well, discuss reading and listening preferences and report any concerns to the necessary people.
You'll need to have a friendly personality with the ability to observe and identify areas of concern. You'll have good communication and listening skills with a non-judgemental attitude towards an individual's circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality. This is an ideal opportunity if you want to make new friends and to be part of a team. We also have opportunities available for people with specific skills, so please tell us what your strengths are when we meet.
