School Governor
School Governors are the largest volunteer group in the UK. There are more than 300,000 across the UK and we are fortunate enough to have over 130 of those working with Kernow Learning schools. Governors come from all backgrounds, bringing and range of skills and perspectives. You don't have to work in education to be a Governor.
Our Local Governing Bodies are made up of the Headteacher of the school, 2 parent Governors, 1 staff Governor and at least 3 community Governors (in our church schools we also have foundation Governors). We are always looking for parents, community and foundation Governors and would be interested in hearing from anybody that would like to volunteer in this capacity.
Our Local Governing Bodies are committees of our Trust board and have the following responsibilities delegated to them:
- Setting the strategic direction and vision of the school.
- Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
- Ensuring the voices of school stakeholders are heard.
Get in touch to find out about the role of a School Governor. You can also find out more by visiting the School Governor page of our website - https://www.kernowlearning.co.uk/join-our-governors
