St Ives Community Foodshare - Collection Support
Collection Support
We collect surplus food from a range of sources and give it away at our 6 weekly public collections. For Collection Support there are positions available for those that drive, and those that do not.
This role is to support the collection lead, so the support that the role above requires is to have another person with them for the collection. This means it requires no formal training as you will always be with a trained and experienced person who will lead the collection. Some of the qualities we would like is someone who is confident, good with people, and a desire to help. Everything else we believe grows with experience.
(Off site collections) You can meet the Collection Lead at the Rugby Club to help load their vehicle with the food, and go down with them. Or you can meet them at the location to help unload and support them with the collection.
(On site collections) You can meet the Collection Lead at the Rugby club where the collection will take place. This type of collection involves taking temperatures of the freezers and fridges, giving surfaces a wipe down, hoovering. The collection is on site so people will come to the Rugby Club to come and get the food. This type of collection involves taking temperatures of the freezers and fridges, giving surfaces a wipe down, hoovering.
This role takes from 30 mins - 1.5 hours per session. It is up to you how many sessions a week you would like to do. Even just one collection helps us out so much, and even if you are not able to do it every week it would still be great to have you on board.
