Role description

Pick Up Support

We collect surplus food from a range of sources and give it away at our 6 weekly public collections. For the Pick Up Support role you do not need to be able to drive. You can either accompany the person who is Pick Up Lead to the three Co-Ops to help load the food. Or you can meet them at the Rugby Club to help sort the food into our freezers, fridges, and crates, ready for the following days collection. It also involves taking temperatures of the freezers and fridges, giving surfaces a wipe down, and hoovering. As you will always be with a trained and more experienced person you do not need to have any formal training. We will show you how to sort the food and store it safely. This role takes from 1.5-2.5 hours per session. It is up to you how many sessions a week you would like to do. Even just one pick up helps us out so much, and even if you are not able to do it every week it would still be great to have you on board.
