Step into Wellness Support Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers across Cornwall to help with the delivery of our Step Into Wellness sessions.
As part of the role, volunteers are needed to assist the Step Into Wellness facilitator at the 7 weekly sessions by engaging with the participants, completion of paperwork, making refreshments, setting up and closing down of room (if needed) and any other work as necessary.
As a volunteer supporting the Step Into Wellness programme, you will volunteer alongside trained facilitators in your local area to assist them with ensuring that the weekly sessions run smoothly.
What is Step Into Wellness?
This FREE programme designed around the NHS 5 steps to mental wellbeing incorporates conversation-based sessions available face-to-face, or online, where we explore different ways we can help you achieve your goals. Together, we'll look at ways to widen connections and friendships or improve your health and self-confidence. It's also an opportunity to talk about things that might worry you, or be causing you anxiety.
Our Step into Wellness programme consists of seven sessions, across seven weeks. The first four sessions cover the following:
Social connections: we'll focus on how social connection(s) can lower anxiety and depression, and help us manage our emotions when we experience change, or difficult times.
Activity: this session concentrates on the benefits of exercise. An experienced exercise professional will join us to share some simple exercises which can be done either standing or on a chair, and talk about the impact including simple exercises into our daily routine can have on our wellbeing.
Mindfulness: this session will focus on connecting with our minds, allowing us to see the present moment clearly. Mindfulness can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives and is a great tool to draw upon in times of stress.
Learning and giving: this session concentrates on how using our time to learn new skills, or to give time to help others, can have a positive impact on our wellbeing.
The final three sessions are specifically led by what you want from the programme. This is an opportunity to focus on specific areas of your wellbeing that you feel you need support or help in improving. Previous participants have covered topics like managing stress, improved sleep, motivation and healthy eating. We have also invited people to join the sessions and answer questions about being safe online with digital inclusion and financial support.
