Role description

Bodmin Way runs a friendly activity group each week on Wednesdays, which is attended by around 50 participants.

Held in the Shire Hall Suite in the centre of Bodmin, the event includes tea coffee, light lunch, bingo and other entertainment as well as lots of lovely conversation.

This important weekly event depends on a small group of volunteers who come together to organise, set up and run it, with a supervisor who leads the team.

Being one of these volunteers is a really important role, and gives you an opportunity to give something back and make a difference to many lives.

We need at least 3 extra volunteers to come and join our Time Together team.

Ideally you will be able to take a share of the following:

  • Arriving by 0930 on Wednesdays to help set up, which includes putting out tables and chairs and organising the tea and coffee station.
  • Welcoming everyone as they arrive to take part in Time Together.
  • Making sure newcomers are introduced to someone to talk to and sit next to.
  • Helping to plate up and serve the lunch/catering which is prepared by others and delivered to the event.
  • Helping to clear away, serve teas and coffees, do some of the washing up, many hands make light work.
  • Packing up at the end of the session, including helping the team to put away the tables and re stack the chairs.
  • Leaving at around 1.30pm once everything is done.

Everyone doing this volunteer role is asked to take part in a short but important Safeguarding course, which you can do on line in your own time and which takes about an hour. There is NO exam, and you will get a certificate to keep once this is completed.

As our volunteers have the benefit of an activity supervisor, no DBS is required, however we will ask you to complete an application form, and provide the contact details for people we can approach for references.

To obtain the application form and more information, please telephone Bodmin Way office on 01208 809601 and choose option 5, or contact us at office@bodminway.org.

Please pass this on to others you know who maybe interested in applying to join this volunteer team. Thank you.
