Role description

We are seeking volunteers to help support our local policing teams in looking after their fleet of marked and unmarked vehicles. This role involves keeping the vehicles clean and stocked of the necessary policing equipment ensuring they are ready to deploy. Other tasks include performing basic vehicle checks such as checking tyre pressures, fluid levels, ensuring all vehicle lights and sirens work and assisting with transporting vehicles from stations to our vehicle workshops for maintenance as required. You will also need to update our vehicle database; Basic IT skills will be needed. Ideally you will, be happy to work outside, have a general interest in looking after vehicles and a desire to help your local police service.

We are looking for support with our police vehicle checks. You will assist with the looking after our fleet of both marked and unmarked police vehicles to ensure that they are fully equipped and always safe to use. A police driving assessment will be required to undertake this role and will be provided as part of the training package.

 

Main duties include:

• Regular weekly checks to make sure the vehicles are fully equipped and safe to use (only on police grounds)

• Keeping vehicles clean and presentable

• Keeping the station’s vehicle inventory stocked and up-to-date

• Keeping the station’s vehicle store organised and tidy

• Keeping files and computer inventory up-to-date with weekly activities

• Reporting faults and low stock levels to volunteer buddy

• Transporting vehicles to and from stations & workshops (as per local agreement)

 

We will provide you with uniform, waterproof clothing and boots to perform the role.

 

Please Note:

This role requires a driving licence check prior to being interviewed for the position.  A declaration and licence check form will be emailed to you if you are successful through the shortlisting stage, and prior to an interview being offered.  If this check shows an invalid licence unfortunately you will be withdrawn from the recruitment process.

 

This role requires a full manual driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months.
