Role Title: Volunteer Ambassador

Role Overview:
As a Volunteer Ambassador for Out of the Woods CIC, you will be an advocate for the charity’s mission to provide play therapy and other therapeutic services to children and young people in Cornwall who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). You will attend talks, meetings, and events on behalf of the charity, helping to raise awareness about the impact of ACEs, the services we provide, and the importance of supporting children in overcoming trauma. Your work will play a critical role in engaging potential donors, partners, and supporters, ensuring that Out of the Woods CIC continues to grow and meet the increasing demand for our vital services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the Charity: Attend talks, meetings, and events as an Out of the Woods CIC Ambassador, sharing information about our work, our services, and the impact of ACEs on children and adults.
- Advocate for the Cause: Communicate the importance of play therapy and creative therapies (including music, drama, and art) in helping children process and heal from trauma.
- Raise Awareness: Educate the public, local businesses, and community groups about ACEs and the work we do to support children in Cornwall.
- Encourage Support: Engage with potential donors, partners, and supporters to encourage financial contributions, volunteer engagement, or other forms of support.
- Network: Build and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, local businesses, and organisations to create more opportunities for the charity to reach those in need and expand its network of supporters.
- Assist with Fundraising: Promote and participate in fundraising campaigns and events to help raise the necessary funds to continue delivering subsidised therapy services.
- Provide Feedback: Share insights from meetings and events with the team to help refine our outreach strategy and improve our messaging.
Skills and Qualities:
- Passion for the Cause: A strong commitment to supporting children who have experienced trauma and a belief in the power of therapy to help them heal.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to clearly communicate complex information in a way that is accessible and engaging to different audiences.
- Confidence in Public Speaking: Comfortable speaking in front of groups, sharing personal stories, and answering questions in a professional manner.
- Empathy and Understanding: Ability to listen to and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, showing understanding and compassion for those who may have experienced trauma.
- Strong Networking Skills: Comfortable building relationships and engaging with a wide range of people, from donors to community members.
- Self-Motivation and Initiative: A proactive approach to finding and seizing opportunities to spread awareness of the charity’s work.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a professional presence at events and meetings.

- Induction and Training: You will receive an induction to Out of the Woods CIC, including, our therapeutic approach, and our services.
- Ongoing Support: Regular check-ins to discuss progress and provide any necessary support.
- Resources: Access to promotional materials, case studies, and other resources to help you communicate the charity's impact effectively.
- Networking Opportunities: Opportunities to connect with other volunteers, supporters, and professionals in the field.
