About us:

Bethel Community Larder has been running almost 2 years.

Its mission is to essentially combat food waste ,while meeting the local needs of its community in the current financial crisis.

Each week the project opens its doors at 9:30 am and during that time ,we see numbers anywhere between 60 and 125 people, from all walks of life. There is no voucher or referral required making this project unique as many places require approval.

As well as the Community Larder we run a community café using all produce from the Larder where everything is free. The Community café is a fantastic place to meet new people, build confidence and support mental health. In the winter months we are a ‘warm safe space’ and we also offer practical cooking jam /chutney making sessions.

Most weeks in the Community café, we also offer support with different crisis areas such as:

  • Finance
  • Housing
  • Mental health
  • Fuel poverty

We work with 26 partners within our local area and together we make a difference
