Role description

Are you looking for a volunteer role where you can make a difference by raising vital funds for Guide Dogs? With little time to spare, you can still join your local fundraising group at events or collections as a Volunteer Fundraiser.

“I’ve been volunteering with my local group for a year now and I’ve learnt so much already. I’ve got to know all the team members and I’ve learnt about how these incredible dogs help people with sight loss live with more freedom and independence, which has made me even more passionate to help fundraise.” Diane, Volunteer Fundraiser

Why we need you

Our fundraising groups urgently need more volunteer fundraisers who can support their local events and help raise money for an important cause. If you enjoy chatting to people, visiting new places and inspiring people to donate to a life-changing cause, this volunteering role for you.

Our fundraising groups are an important presence in our local communities. They organise a wide range of events and collections that raise vital awareness and funds for our life-changing services that support people with sight loss.

What you'll be doing as a Volunteer Fundraiser

In this flexible role, you can get involved as much or as little as works for you.

You can help by:

  • Getting involved and supporting local events run by your team, which could include anything from quiz nights to coffee mornings, to collections or sponsored walks.
  • Using your communication skills to chat and tell people about Guide Dogs and why we need their support.
  • Helping spread the word about your team’s events on social media and to your local networks.
  • Using your imagination and creativity to suggest new fundraising ideas that could raise money for Guide Dogs. All suggestions are welcome!

What you'll get

  • In this team role, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting people with sight loss by raising funds for our vital services.
  • This is a flexible volunteer role where you can give as little or as much time as you want. You can fit your volunteering around any other responsibilities or commitments that you have.
  • This volunteering role is a great opportunity to meet new people and build your communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You’ll have lots of fun socialising and attending a wide range of different events.
  • You’ll get to meet incredible dogs – from puppies and guide dogs in training to qualified guide dogs working in partnerships.
  • You’ll have a dedicated volunteer manager and a team of volunteers who all support each other.
  • Volunteering should never leave you out of pocket. We pay any expenses related to your volunteering with us, including travel costs.

Training and support

All our volunteers are given the training they need to support them in their role. This is usually delivered online through an engaging and interactive training programme, but can also be offered in other formats. Examples of the modules you will be learning for this role include:

  • How to organise an event.
  • Ideas for successful fundraising events.
