Role description

If you identify as introverted, sensitive or shy, then we're your people.

Welcome to Quiet Connections. We're a community interest company based in Cornwall, dedicated to connecting, uniting, and advocating for quieter people. We create opportunities that support, enable, and empower each of us to flourish in our own gentle way.

Here, quietness is not only accepted… It's celebrated. Through our inclusive Meet Ups across Cornwall, we offer calm, welcoming spaces where quieter people -your fellow quieteers- can connect, relax, and simply be. These are spaces to breathe, to feel at ease, and to belong just as you are.

We're not a support group. We're a movement; a growing collective of quiet courage and compassion. We believe that gentle, caring people can create powerful change simply by showing up with kindness and curiosity. Together, we’re working towards a world where quieter people are better understood, deeply valued, and equally celebrated.

And we’re looking for volunteers who want to be part of this movement - creating spaces where all quieter people can thrive.

About the Role

Support Quiet Connections through fundraising that suits your strengths - whether that’s helping out in your local community or using your writing skills for bid writing.

This is a flexible role that can take different forms depending on what you enjoy. You might focus on one of these areas, or gently explore both with our support:

Community Fundraising

  • Help organise or support gentle fundraising activities like car boot sales, raffles, creative challenges, or sponsored walks
  • Build a bank of friendly fundraising resources that other volunteers and quieteers can use
  • Raise awareness of Quiet Connections in your community by encouraging donations and sharing our story in calm, creative ways
  • Thank supporters and donors to help nurture lasting community relationships

Bid Writing

  • Assist with researching grants or funding opportunities
  • Write or edit simple funding applications using templates and examples
  • Help develop creative fundraising ideas behind the scenes
  • Collect social impact data to support future fundraising applications

You don’t need experience - just a willingness to get involved in a way that feels right for you. You’ll be part of a supportive team with access to templates, guidance, and encouragement.

It's okay if you feel anxious about stepping into the role - we're here to support you gently stretch your comfort zone.

Time commitment: flexible (approx 2-4 hours per month), worked from home, with check-ins and training as needed

About You

We are looking to hear from you if you are a compassionate individual with personal alignment with the Quiet Connections mission and values. You'll be a quieteer yourself, considering yourself to be introverted, sensitive or shy, and you'll personally relate to some of the challenges quiet people may experience.

While you don’t need any specific qualifications or prior experience, here are some qualities or experiences that could be helpful:

  • Good communication skills - written or verbal
  • Attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Basic tech confidence - we mostly use Google Workspace
  • A positive attitude, creativity, and the ability to take initiative
  • Sensitivity, empathy, and tactfulness
  • Being willing to gently stretch your comfort zone in a supportive environment
  • Being willing to ask for support when needed
  • Personally relating to some of the challenges quiet people may experience.

What you’ll get

You will join a compassionate and understanding team who share your values and understand your experience. We hope this will give you a sense of belonging and improve your confidence as you deepen your understanding of quietness and sensitivity.

We will support you through training and team meetings, and we can support you to develop projects or learn/develop skills where possible.

We can give you access to CareCoins through Cornwall VSF.

Not sure if this role fits?

There are lots of ways you can be part of Quiet Connections!

You might prefer

  • Connector roles - helping design and/or host Meet Ups - either regular or pop ups
  • Remote volunteering - offering behind the scenes help like marketing, admin, or outreach
  • Creative contributions - help us share stories through photography, writing, or videography
  • Something entirely new - if you’ve got an idea or passion project, we’d love to hear it!

If you have a few hours to spare and want to make a difference, get in touch and we’ll find something that works for you.
