Volunteer Peer Support Workers
Give back in Launceston
The Health Hub in Launceston are searching for peer support workers!
We are looking for those with lived experience to support with peer support groups in Launceston!
Volunteer requirements:
Attend induction training on Wednesday 30th July 10am - 4pm at The Health Hub (8 Exeter Street, Launceston, PL15 9EQ).
- Providing a consistent and supportive environment for group attendees to feel comfortable and valued.
- Engage with attendees in a friendly and approachable manner, helping them feel welcome and at ease.
- Provide information or signpost attendees to relevant local services or community groups (if aware).
- Maintain confidentiality and respect towards attendees.
- Work as part of a supportive team to help promote healthier lifestyles in the community.
This Peer Support Training is designed to help volunteers feel more confident in providing 1:1 support and facilitating peer-led group discussions.
Peer Support Groups are a fantastic way to bring together individuals with shared experiences—whether related to stroke, visual or hearing impairments, chronic pain, autism, diabetes, or other conditions—to create a supportive and understanding community.
Who is it for?
This training is open to anyone interested in supporting existing Peer Support Groups in Launceston—currently focused on Chronic Pain, Visual Impairment, and Parents/Guardians of those with SEN (Special Educational Needs). It's also suitable for those considering starting a new group in areas such as Cancer, Stroke, Hearing Impairment, Diabetes, or general Wellbeing.
The primary focus is on strengthening local support networks in Launceston.
