Role description

StreetVet is a multi-award winning charity delivering free essential veterinary care and services to the pets of people experiencing homelessness in multiple locations around the UK. Our volunteers provide a vital role in helping us to deliver our support.

Visit our website for more information https://www.streetvet.co.uk

This is a volunteering role for qualified Vets who are registered with RCVS as a practicing Veterinary Surgeon.

What does the role involve? Attending outreach clinics in either Newquay, St Austell or Redruth to;

  1. Perform general health checks
  2. Treat symptoms
  3. Prescribe and dispense medication including preventative care
  4. Undertake diagnostics including bloods & FNAs
  5. Educate owners for best practice pet care
  6. Provide provisions such as food and toys
  7. Write up all clinical notes on our veterinary PMS
  8. Support with managing stock

StreetVet are looking to find volunteers that are able to sign up on a longer term basis. This enables you to get to know our patients and build up trust with their owners. We ask that all our volunteers attend an outreach at least once every 3 months. Ideally, volunteers would be able to attend one outreach per month.
