Volunteer on a Vision-Impaired Surfing Taster Day
Fancy a day out catching the waves?
Join VICTA and Moorvision on July 1st on Crantock Beach!
We need volunteers to join us on the day to act as 1:1 supervision for participants in the water.
You will need to be physically fit and able to support a young person with a vision impairment surfing in the water for 2x two hour sessions.
This activity will be held on Crantock Beach at The Big Green Surf School, an award-winning, exclusive surf school and activity centre.
As part of the day, you will receive:
- 4 hours of surfing – 2 hour morning session and 2 hour afternoon session
- All equipment provided
While all equipment needed to surf is provided, you will still need to have your own swimwear and bring a towel. You will also need to bring a packed lunch. Details of other things to consider as well as any other questions might be answered here: https://www.biggreensurfschool.com/faq
VICTA will be doing this activity day in conjunction with Moorvision. They offer information, advice, support, activities and shared experiences for families of children and young people with vision impairment (including those with additional needs) aged 0-25 years, and for parent/carers with vision impairment in Devon (including Plymouth and Torbay) and Cornwall. We also welcome families from Somerset and Dorset. You can find out more about Moorvision on their website: https://www.moorvision.org/
